College Football Preview Analyzing Picks and Selections!
With the 2007-2008 college football season drawing near, every
serious sports bettor directs his/her attention towards who next
season’s movers and shakers will be.
Obviously, knowing where to find value in your bets and ultimately
making money in sports betting boils down to good old-fashioned
handicapping. Because it’s the off-season, one can barely
make a correct assessment as to where this or that or the other
team will be standing come next season, but certain speculations
can already be made, based on the players the teams have and the
changes they’re making.
One of the teams most sports bettors are keeping an eye on is USC.
It always takes a favorite and an underdog to generate hidden value,
and USC might just be right for the favorite role.
Coming off a strong performance, they retain most of last season’s
starters, and their coach (Pete Carroll). The strong point of this
team is their defense, and all circumstances seem to point at them
being no.one for next season. They even have a lighter schedule
coming up than last year, with tough tests in Nebraska, at Notre
Dame and at Cal. Estimates are, USC will make it to the NC game
on a single loss. Another good candidate for the NC would be LSU.
Certainly one of the most talented teams, expert handicappers do
not consider them a prime favorite though. First of all, they lost
Russell, then they still have Les Miles. Not that he isn’t
a good coach, but handicappers seem to agree that he is certainly
not a NC coach. Other than that, LSU has the schedule working against
them as well. They have to blaze a trail through Arkansas, Auburn
and Florida, not to mention South Carolina and Alabama, both of
which are as hungry as ever for a win. The tough meet with VTech
won’t help tilt the balance their way either. In a word, it
seems hard to believe they won’t pick up at least 2 losses
like they did last year, even though Flynn looks as capable as ever.
The team USC will most likely play in the NC game, is Michigan.
They have a tough schedule working against them and the loss of
a couple of defensive assets won’t help them much either,
but the trio of Hart, Manningham and Henne is thought to be capable
of beating these adversities. Certainly, they will get away with
a loss, but if things work out well for them, they may just reach
the NC undefeated.
VTech is another solid presence from the ACC (which they’re
quite likely to win) but that game they have against LSU is a serious
blow to their NC hopes. A guy to watch is Brandon Ore here.
Louisville shouldn’t be much of a NC threat for the teams
mentioned above. They are almost certain to drop a game, either
to South Florida or Rutgers, or to Kentucky. WVU is also a possible
obstacle in Louisville’s path.
Based on what we saw last year, Wisconsin is definitely a team
to watch. Having tallied a single loss (12-1) last season, their
schedule will help them more next season. Having to deal with Michigan
and OSU IC, and with Washington State OOC, as their toughest games,
the stage certainly seems to be set for another good season for
these guys.
If you’re looking for some serious hidden value, keep your
eyes on Cal. With DeSean Jackson, Robert Jordan, Lavelle Hawkins,
and Nate Longshore they are set to win the big games at home against
Tennessee and USC, but experts say they’re likely to drop
a game on the road, against UCLA or ASU, games in which they’ll
be favorites.
You know how people like to bet on favorites, so watch out for those
games.
If you understand NCAA football value-betting, these predictions
will hopefully help you pinpoint some value next season.
